That Crazy New Series, “Groo the Wanderer”
Deep in the pages of an ancient issue of “Amazing Heroes,” I came across this ad. Imagine a time before “Groo the Wanderer”? I can’t. I think the series was a good 50 issues deep before I even started to read comics.
I wonder if Sergio lettered this himself. The logo in the ad has most of the elements that the series logo would later have, at least in the Epic days. There’s always little changes going on, and they altered it more when it went to Image for a little while.
Also, $5.50 for six issues (postage included)? Pretty good deal. That wouldn’t pay just the shipping on the “Sergio Aragones’ Groo the Wanderer Artist’s Edition” book.
Groo #100 is one of the greatest single issues in comicdom.
