Inktober 2016 Days 12 and 13 Domino and Velvet

Inktober 2016 Days 12 and 13 – Domino and Velvet

Rather than post the Inktober draws day by day now, I’m collecting them in batches that make sense or fit themes.  Follow me on Instagram or Twitter for the day-by-day posts.

Welcome to the Ladies in Black Leather edition of this Inktober…

Day 12 – Domino

Inktober Day 12 - Domino from Rob Liefeld's X-Force run with Fabian Nicieza

I went back to the Jim Lee X-Men trading card set for this one. Her right hand is opening the blinds in the window she’s looking out.  I didn’t have much success drawing those blinds and gave up.  There’s only so much time in a day…

I experimented a lot with the inks in the time that I had.  You can see in the video that there was a lot of erasing and redrawing going on in the shadows.  Not sure that I found anything new here, but just playing around was important. I’m tempted to “color” this one in with a gray wash at some point down the line…

Day 13 – Velvet

Inktober 2016 Day 13 Velvet by Ed Brubaker and Steve Epting

I did go with the “gray wash” on this one.

Again, I had to deal with the impossible to draw black leather costumes. ARGH!  I did my best.  Probably should have gone simpler, and more cartoony, but such is life.  Live and learn. Experience and remember.  Hope for the best.  And if you haven’t read “Velvet” yet, let me tell you why you should.

Coming Next

“Spell on Wheels”!  This would be days #14 – #16.  I missed coloring the first one, though. Only so much time in the day…
