Inktober 2016 Day 3 – Ash’s Mother from “Romulus”

Yesterday’s #Inktober featured Ash from the new Image series, “Romulus”.

For today’s #Inktober, then, I drew her mother who trained her. Because PipelineComics.com is for everyone, not just the young. Strike ageism down! (Yes, I turned 40 this year. Does it show much?)

It’s a bit sloppy, to be honest.  I screwed up a couple of layers.  Her back foot is colored on the inks layer.  So I faked a shadow on another unrelated layer above it.  I’m not sure what’s going on with her hair, to tell you the truth.  The right hand’s pinky finger looks like a sausage sticking out at on odd angle.

But, hey, who amongst us is perfect? 😉

I had always pictured putting the two drawings together, as Mom watched Daughter at work.  Or something.

Inktober Is Not a Competition

But other Inktoberists might inspire you to try harder. For example:

Sanford Greene posted this awesome Inktober entry:

Former Disney animator Aaron Blaise puts us all to shame and has the best use of white ink I’ve seen so far this month.

And Steve Lieber is a dog lover this month:

Now THAT’S negative space!

Meanwhile, Danny Miki and Jonathan Glapion and Mark Farmer look up from their drawing boards, mutter “Inktober? Slackers!” and go back to their second page of inks for the day…
