{"id":630,"date":"2016-07-21T23:52:17","date_gmt":"2016-07-22T03:52:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.learncsp.com\/?p=630"},"modified":"2016-07-21T23:52:17","modified_gmt":"2016-07-22T03:52:17","slug":"word-balloons-from-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pipelinecomics.com\/learncsp\/word-balloons-from-center\/","title":{"rendered":"Drawing Word Balloons from the Center"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>First and foremost: Always do the text first. &nbsp;<em>Then<\/em> draw the word balloon around it.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The trick to this is learning how to size and place that balloon. &nbsp;The default in CSP is to drag a line from what is essentially one corner of the balloon to the far corner. &nbsp;Then you can move it around and shrink it to properly fit around the lettering.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>There&#8217;s another way to do it, and it&#8217;s the way I prefer. &nbsp;Let me show you how.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Draw a Word Balloon from the Center<\/h2>\n\n\n<p><strong>Go to the word balloon tool.<\/strong> \u00a0Being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.learncsp.com\/top-8-clip-studio-paint-keyboard-shortcuts\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"172\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a keyboard shortcut <\/a>kind of guy, I like to type &#8220;T&#8221; to get to the Text Tool options, and then click on the &#8220;Ellipse Balloon&#8221; tool from there.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>With the word balloon tool open, <strong>click on the wrenches<\/strong> at the bottom corner of the pane. &nbsp;That will bring up the settings:<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"419\" height=\"587\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pipelinecomics.com\/learncsp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/07\/balloon_center_numbered.jpeg\" alt=\"clip studio paint word balloon settings\" class=\"wp-image-634\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pipelinecomics.com\/learncsp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/07\/balloon_center_numbered.jpeg 419w, https:\/\/www.pipelinecomics.com\/learncsp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/07\/balloon_center_numbered-214x300.jpeg 214w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 419px) 100vw, 419px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Choose &#8220;Shape Operation&#8221;.<\/li><li>Check&nbsp;the box for &#8220;Start from center.&#8221;<\/li><li>Click the &#8220;X&#8221; in the upper left corner to close the window, and your new setting will be ready to go.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n<p>Now you can draw a word balloon by pulling out from the center of the text to surround it.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">See the Difference<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Here are the two ways:<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"540\" height=\"304\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pipelinecomics.com\/learncsp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/07\/diff_balloons.gif\" alt=\"clip studio paint word balloon styles\" class=\"wp-image-640\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p>If it&#8217;s not perfect, you&#8217;ll have to move the text around to fit in the balloon. &nbsp;If you try to move the balloon, it&#8217;ll take the text with it. Center the text inside the balloon first, then move the balloon into the final position you want it on the page.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Now you have a choice between two ways of drawing round word balloons. &nbsp;Since the lettering in word balloons generally belongs in the middle, it makes more sense to me to pull the balloon out from the center of&nbsp;the text than to try to judge a box around it. &nbsp;Your mileage may vary.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Drawing word balloons is easier when you can drawn them from the inside out.
