Episode 2: You Have Excuses, I Have Answers
There are ten common reasons I’ve heard for why people don’t read European Comics.
And they’re all wrong. In the second episode of the Pipeline Comics podcast, I’ll explain why.

This is based on an article I wrote a couple years back titled “Why Now Is a Great Time to Start Reading Franco-Belgian Comics.”
Everything I wrote there still stands.
Here are your excuses (or objections, if you prefer) that I’ll be answering in the podcast:
- I can’t read French.
- Nobody publishes them in English.
- The pages are too big.
- The books are too short.
- The books are too expensive.
- The books are hard to find.
- I don’t know what’s good.
- I tried one that one time and didn’t like it very much.
- The translations aren’t very good.
- I don’t have enough time.
As it turns out, I didn’t really have an answer for that last one without diving into some deep personal life coach mumbo jumbo. But the rest of them are easily answered, especially in this day and age of digital comics.

One of the best ways to get started with European comics is to take advantage of the weekly sales on the digital platforms. Comixology has them, and so does Izneo.
EuropeComics.com is still an awesome resource.
If you’re new to the podcast, can I recommend the first episode, for your listening pleasure?

I’m just crazy enough to have a plan for doing up to five podcasts a week, depending on how well that goes….
Right off the bat in the second issue of the podcast you go for a listicle, that’s ballsy 😀
Wait, episode #4 is another listicle! BWAH HA HA! I’m learning everything from BuzzFeed now…
At least my subtitle wasn’t “You won’t believe #4!”
