I mentioned in my tribute to Alberto Uderzo that there were two books made in his honor by various BD cartoonists.
In the first book, “Uderzo Croque Par Ses Amis”, Albert Uderzo was a featured character in every story. In the second, “Asterix et Ses Amis“, he appeared more sporadically.
Enjoy this gallery of the many looks of Albert Uderzo as seen in these two albums.
Juanjo (“Blacksad”) Guarnido. I’ve posted this full image on social media a couple times in the past and it’s amongst my most popular posts ever.

Note Uderzo’s Ferrari chariot. Uderzo’s race car hobby was a recurring theme in this book. Art by Juszezak from a different story.
This is the buffest looking Uderzo of the lot. And, yes, another race car. Art and story by Rodolphe and Rouge.

This is a great story in which the artist Uderzorix paints a number of portraits including Marsupilami, a Smurf, Lucky Luke, Mickey Mouse, and Tintin — all wearing Asterix’s hat. Art by M. Janvier.

Ah, thanks, I’ll update that one. I’ve heard his name before, but I’m not sure I’ve ever seen his art.I just did a Google Images search and I’m impressed. Would love to see more…. Doesn’t look like Izneo.com carries anything of his, though, even in French. =(
Try comixology, some of his stories have been published by fantagraphics and IDW.
And you can also check his publications in the English language at inducks.
Will there ever be a Lucky Luke tribute book by other artists someday? Just like they did to Asterix 14 years ago in 2007 in honor of Albert Uderzo’s 80th birthday?
That’s Michel VaillANT
Thanks – I was so busy fighting the auto-correct from changing it to “Valiant” that I confused myself in the spelling. It’s all fixed now.
Also, the character of Englishman Waldo Badmington from Lucky Luke is a caricature of Albert Uderzo did you know?
Waldo Badmington appears in “The Tenderfoot” the 33rd from 1968, and again in “The Klondike” the 66th from 28 years later in 1996.
That one you cannot read is Giorgio Cavazzano, a famous Italian -mainly Disney- artist!

Oh, I should have known! IDW leaned a lot on the Italian comics. I should have looked there first. Thanks!
Check out World of the Dragonlords: https://inducks.org/issue.php?c=us%2FWOTD++1 I’m pretty sure you’ll love it!
