Green Valley #3 cover at Image Comics through Skybound

Pipeline #1021: “Green Valley”

“Lake of Fire” is an excellent book starring knights.  Now, we have a second entry. See?  2016 isn’t so bad, after all!

Last week’s column at ComicBook.com focuses on “Green Valley,” the new series out of Skybound at Image Comics.  It’s about four knights who are the best of the best, until suddenly they make a mistake and everything goes down the tubes.

Written by Max Landis, drawn by Giuseppe Camuncoli, colored by Jean-Francois Beaulieu, with lettering by Pat Brousseau (not Rus Wooton), it has a bit of a shaky start, but the wit of the dialogue, the strength of the art, and the complete unpredictability of the storyline (again, after the second half of the first issue) make this one a winner.

I reviewed the first two issues in the column, but I’ve had the chance to read issue #3 now, ahead of its release this week, December 12.

Unfortunately, I can’t say too much about this issue because of spoilers, aside from saying that it turns the entire series completely on its ear yet again.

It’s a surprising issue for that reason, though I’m sure it’ll turn off a few readers.  This is a case where I’d suggest keeping an open mind towards what this series is all about.

Just roll with the changes issue #3 brings. It raises more questions than it answers, but it’s a curious enough choice that I can’t wait for the next issue.

Hop on over to ComicBook.com and check out that column.  Another new one should be there in the next couple of days.  Time does fly…
