Episode #64: “Documentary”
The new Disney+ documentary series, “Marvel 616,” includes an episode showing the behind the scenes machinations of putting together “Iron Man 2020” #1. It features Dan Slott as the character of the perpetually late, tortured writer who really loves comics.
It stirred up controversy on-line from people complaining that it glorified a creator who made everyone else’s lives hell.
That Hot Take, I thought, wasn’t entirely fair. And, in fact, I think it misses a couple of other key points people should take away from the so-called “documentary,” which is really a recreation of the process and mostly visual lies. I’ll cover that all in the podcast.
