For everything else you’re spot on.

Btw if you’re ever interested in buying something that is only available over here, I’m sure one of your faithful European readers would be happy to grab it from a local bookstore and forward the package over to you.

    1. OK, so I’m far off on that one, too. Wow. Learn something new everyday. Thanks for letting me know that before I finish recording all the podcasts for Asterix Week next week.

As to the shipping — that might be a good game plan at some point. Don’t tempt me like that, JC! I don’t need more stuff in Pipeline World HQ, even if I really really want it. 😉

  2. Hi

Long time no type. I’ve been remiss in keeping up, but the Podcast has me back on board. I’ve also been meaning to get in touch to tell you about a little something Asterix related that I thought would be of interest.

The UK has a weekly story comic – the emphasis on ‘Story’ is alas very important in the British ‘comics’ industry these days as most UK ‘comics’ are puzzle and craft magazines with the barest nod to actual comic strips. The Phoenix (add weekly story comic if you look it up online) is a glorious anthology for kids with 5-6, 3- 5 page strips each issue, in the grand tradition of UK comics and dare I say not unlike how I imagine ‘Pilote’ was. It has work by absolute wonders like Jamie Smart, the Etherington Brothers (very influenced by BD I’d dare to suggest) and Neill Cameron among many, many other talents. Its just a fantastic way to get kids into their weekly comics fix… certainly worked with my two and even the girl child who claims to have moved on at the age of 10 and now owning a mobile still sneak reads chunks I’ve observed.

Anyway all this preamble does have a purpose. Over the last 5 weeks, the final part due this Friday – they have been running a weekly 3 panel Asterix strip by Ferri and Conrad about a secret visiter in the village (expecting the reveal in the final part next week – I’m guessing its all about the new book being out). Its a cute little aside, but lots of fun to the avid Asterix fan. I’ve no doubt this is available elsewhere in the build up to the 60th, but it is marked as ‘exclusive’ – I’m guessing thats the English language version?

I’m afriad I don’t think The Phoenix (Weekly Story Comic) is available digitally at the moment – it used to be – but if you’d like to see them happy to take some phones this weekend and pop them across.
